Jo Dee was born and raised in Sanford, Florida. The only daughter of John and Mardee Lake, she was raised on the Staint John's river where she learned how to fish. After receiving her college degree at the University of Alabama she moved to Birmingham.  She participated in her first tournament in February of 2004, almost winning Big Fish with a 5.5 pound Largemouth hooking her on competitive based fishing. When Jo Dee learned about the newly founded Women's Bassmaster Tour, she couldn't resist being a part of it. Finishing 5th at the preview event on Lake Lewsiville, as a co-angler, she partnered with some sponsors and found her life completely changed.

 

Jo Dee went Pro/boater in 2007.
